Nitori Art Base – A new art complex that spreads across the historical landmarks of Otaru, which were once known as the “Wall Street of the North.” Approximately 140 pieces of stained glass which once adorned English churches, and art work by Emile Galle and Daum Brothers who represented the Art Nouveau period are on display. Most of the art work was created between the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century, about the time Otaru flourished. The Nitori Art Base Museum of Japanese Modern Art is scheduled to open the summer of 2017, in the Former Mitsui Bank behind the Nitori Art Base Stained Glass Museum.

    ★Otaru Canal Cruise (duration 40 min) Adults ¥1,500, children ¥500, 1 preschool child (4 - 6), per adult is free. Additional children must pay child's price. Show your bus ticket stub and get a 10% discount on your cruise. Please note that the cruise may be cancelled in strong winds or inclement weather.
    Passengers must book the cruise. Same day reservations are not accepted between Apr 28 - May 8, Aug 1 - Sept 30. If you wish to take the cruise, please make your reservation by phone the day before, or go directly to the pier and see if there are any vacancies. If it is crowded you may not be able to take the cruise.
