Due to the warm weather we have been having this December, the ice on the fishing pond for the Wakasagi smelt fishing has not thickened to a safe thickness. Due to safety concerns, the facility has decided to postpone the start date of the Wakasagi fishing course until further notice.
If you have already paid our company for this course, a full refund will be provided.
If you have paid through your travel agency, please contact each agency for your refund.
Our company will notify each travel agency of the course suspensions.

みどころ PICK UP!!

Experience the winter wonderland, smelt fishing on the frozen lake, natural hot springs, and Hokkaido soup curry.


This is a new Regular Sightseeing Course for the year of 2019.
This plan provides an easy opportunity to enjoy smelt fishing even if while you are on your trip.
Everything you need, such as winter gear, gloves, and rubber boots. There is also a stove inside the fishing hut, so you can stay warm while you fish!
Food, drinks and snacks can be brought into the fishing sight too.
First you have to try your hand at opening a hole in the thick ice!
Visitors can first experience opening a hole with a designated drill, and then fish in the hole you opened!
All the smelt you have caught can be deep-fried on site, which is the best and most delicious way to eat them!
Besides fishing, there is an area for sledding and tube sliding!
Snow mobile rides (extra charge) are also possible.
Once you have finished fishing for smelt, warm up with Hokkaido soup curry in the lunch venue, and relax in the hot springs.

    10:05~10:15 Briefing by staff on smelt fishing (foreigners will receive prior explanation manual)
    Regular Sightseeing Bus passengers can rent gloves,
    winter gear and boots for free. Most sizes are available.
    10:15~12:00 Kairaku Park Campgrounds Fishing Pond - Inside tent (hole drilled in ice/ heating provided) Fishing There are other activities besides fishing such as, actually drilling the hole in the ice, tube sliding and sledding. (Free for RSB passengers/parental accompaniment may be needed depending on the age of participants.)
    The free sledding and tube-sliding courses may be closed due to inclement weather or snow removal conditions, and will be left to the discression of staff on site.
    12:00~14:00 Have your smelt deep-fried on site(if you do not catch any, fish will be provided from the stockpile, and made into deep-fried)
    *In some cases you may catch fish other than smelt. In such cases the fish will not be deep-fried. After your deep-fried, proceed upstairs for lunch (soup curry).
    After lunch we will have to time to bath in the Tsukigata Hot Springs (bath, face towel provided for free for RSB passengers)
  • Passengers will have the option of mini snowmobile rides (three laps around the lake course/approx. 10 min) Price is ¥1,000
  • The smelt will be deep-fried inside the fishing hut on the lake. When the time comes, the staff will call out to each group, and we will move to the frying hut. We will watch the fish being fried, then eat it. Fish other than smelt will not be deep-fried.
  • Hole-drilling will take about three minutes(parental accompaniment may be necessary depending on the age of the participant. )
  • Passengers are responsible for putting the bait on the line.
  • Designated tents are for 3 to 6 persons. Please understand that you may be sharing a tent with others.
  • It is possible to take home the fish you catch. However, we do not provide containers for the fish.
  • Please understand that you may not even be able to catch one fish.
  • Course participants can rent snow gear sets for free.
  • A reasonable amount of sizes, and number of snow gear sets have been prepared. However, the size of your preference may not be available depending on the number of participants, and size of each participant on the tour. We hope you understand.
  • In cases where the lake doesn't freeze due to warmer winter weather, the course operation dates may be delayed. Further, if the ice melts due to warm weather, the course may be cancelled before the season is over.

◎Arrival time for this course may be earlier depending on whether or not the facility is open or not, or limitations on tours.
◎Please note that the buses may be delayed due to inclement weather or traffic conditions, so please allow ample time for transfers to other means of transportation.
◎The tour may be cancelled due to disasters or other unavoidable circumstances, so please be sure to contact us about whether the tour is in operation during unusual weather.
